Hello, I’m Louie the calligraphy artist behind Tinta Calligraphy. A self-taught calligrapher, my calligraphy journey began while working at Holts Café inside Holt Renfrew. Tasked at writing the daily specials on a menu board, I started with chalk calligraphy and eventually moved to pen and ink with the suggestion of a brand representative. Studying the classic hand laid the foundation of my calligraphic style and guided my proficiency in both the traditional and modern script.

As a freelance calligrapher, I’ve honed my skills over the years working closely with Holt Renfrew and Hermès providing calligraphy service including  place cards, hand written notes, invitations and press kits. In addition, I’ve also worked with Holts doing in-store holiday animation and calligraphing for various private events including the annual CANFAR/Bloor Street Entertains.
